How does the death of America’s Ambassador to Libya impact the Arab spring movement?

Due to the unfortunate death of America’s Ambassador to Libya, the Arab spring conflict has become an even bigger issue in the world today. Ambassador J. Christopher Steven was killed in Benghazi by Islamic extremists in response to a video, which was posted by an American, mocking their Prophet Muhammad. The salafists were previously planning an attack on the U.S and used this video as their perfect opportunity. Not only was the Ambassador murdered, but also the U.S Embassy and flag were burned down. This fuels a bigger fire in the Arab spring because Libya has lost the support of the U.S. They aided Libya in overthrowing their dictator, Muammar Qaddafi and allowed Libya to become a democratic nation. Unfortunately, they did not see the U.S’s contributions as a positive contribution, but as a threat to their country. The American video has irritated the Arab spring movement and has created a bigger problem between the U.S and the Arab nation.

  1. I think you touched on a lot of important notes on this post. This will definitely cause a lot more friction. It has created an already major conflict to an even larger one.
